chouette is a montreal-based online literary magazine. we accept fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and visual art. we are drawn to pieces that concern themselves with the little things—the day-to-day minutiae that make our nests. you can find our submission info here!
MASTHEAD
Alyssa (she/her) is an English Literature student at McGill, born in Montreal and residing in a city closeby, but she’d rather just say Montreal. She loves the darkness of Romantic and Gothic literature with favourites like Wuthering Heights and Rebecca. She still makes time for some YA or Percy Jackson though. Eventually, she hopes to be a high school English teacher.
Gabrielle (she/her) is a Jamaican-Canadian writer and student currently residing in Montreal. She loves twentieth and twenty-first century American literature (for all its lengthy and highly-punctuated asides—like this one), Shakespeare, and graphic novels. When she’s not reading or writing, you can find her rewatching her favourite movies and creating hyper-specific Letterboxd lists.
Lauren (she/her) is currently in her final year of studies at McGill University. She enjoys reading science fiction, contemporary AAPI literature, and any book that will make her cry. As Lauren is prone to reading slumps, she also finds comfort in horror movies, moscow mules, and writing poetry.
Suzanna (she/her) is a girl in pursuit of a lit degree, and an American-Canadian who ignores one nationality when it’s convenient. She’s a Medieval romance enthusiast who is writing her Honours thesis on magical and medical specialized knowledge in Arthurian romance—for fun. She loves to escape into Fantasy, Sci-fi, YA, and speculative fiction. Occasionally, she goes outside.
